Online Professional Development on East Asia

A 4-Week Book Group, Online

Japanese Culture - and Adventure!

Join us for a discussion of the action-packed adventure story of Jack Fletcher, a young English sailor shipwrecked in Edo period Japan who becomes a samurai. This novel for middle school students is a fun read, but students also will learn a great deal about Japan from it. Supplementary readings and resources will give teachers a background in what samurai really were.
