Interest Groups vs. Lobbyists

Gerald L. Curtis :: So in Japan one sees less of an emphasis on lobbying as we know it in the United States — where interest groups seek to convince members of the Congress to adopt certain policies by lobbying with them — and more where interest groups in Japan seek to elect members of the Diet who can be expected to represent the interests of those interest groups because that’s who they’re dependent upon for their election support.
