Latin America
Center
for Latin American Studies at the University of Florida

The University of Florida (UF) has offered Latin American area and language
courses since the 1890s. The first master's degree in Latin American Studies
was awarded at UF in 1931. The Center for Latin American Studies was created
in 1963 and was among the first institutions in the country to be designated
a National Resource Center by the US Department of Education and to receive
assistance and fellowships through the USDE's Title VI program. Today,
the Center is recognized as one of the top-ranked centers in the world
for Latin American studies.

information, and subject. The scope of the collection is research-oriented,
but it also provides access to other gopher and web sites with different
or broader missions.
