Contributors

CAROL GLUCK is George Sansom Professor of History at Columbia and a specialist on modern Japan. She is author of Japan's Modern Myths: Ideology in the Late Meiji Period (Princeton, 1985), and recipient of the Mark Van Doren Award for excellence in teaching, the Great Teacher Award of Columbia University, the Lionel Trilling Award, and the John King Fairbank Award of the American Historical Association.

ROBERTA MARTIN is the director of the East Asian Curriculum Project and the editor also of Contemporary Japan: A Teaching Workbook, Lesson Plans on Japan, Elementary Level Resources on Japan, Central Themes for a Unit on China , China: A Teaching Workbook, Approaches to Teaching about Korea, Approaches to Teaching about Southeast Asia , and Central Themes for a Unit on South Asia.

MICHAEL CHAMBERS holds a masters degree in international affairs from Columbia University, with a specialization in the international politics of East Asia.
